2020 mileage: 1263.2

This morning I left about 9:15 under cloudy skies (43° when I started, a more pleasant 52° when I finished), and rode a round trip to Baker Rd. for the third consecutive day. I'd have to consult my records to be sure -- I think I have done this once or twice before, but am not sure I have ever done four consecutive days, so maybe tomorrow! It gave me a ride of 20.1 miles in 2:23.

The following pictures show two hills that I am blessed to have the opportunity to tackle during these rides to Dexter. Neither looks to be a massive physical barrier, but both present huge psychological hurdles for me.

The first one shows the view as I ride the sidewalk beside Jackson Rd., up to my turnaround point (halfway) at Baker Rd. in Dexter.

The second one shows the view about 3 miles from home, just as I have turned from going eastward beside Stadium Boulevard, to southward alongside S. Main, right after turning at the corner where the Big House (Michigan Stadium) is located. As this shows, there is a significant climb up to just past Pioneer High School. Then it levels off, and I get a short break, before the climb resumes and intensifies from Scio Church Rd. up to Busch's.

Both hills seem pretty innocuous in a car, with the horses under the hood doing all the work. But I've found it to be quite a different thing when my legs are trying to propel my heavy trike and its much heavier occupant! This is particularly true when riding a recumbent cycle, such as I have, since you don't get the mild assistance of gravity from pushing down on the pedals. On a recumbent, from your seated/reclining position, it's all pushing forward.
