2nd ride of 2020 - Monday, 2/3/2020
2020 mileage: 471.7
I've been happy to be able to ride the stationary bike at LA Fitness in recent weeks, since it's been too cold to ride outside. (Having aged, I've now decided that 40° is my cutoff, although in the past my coldest outdoor ride was 17°.) In this way, I've been able to build up some mileage, though I'm slightly behind where I was at this point in 2019.
Today, however, unseasonably warm, springlike weather (50° and sunny) begged me to ride outside, so I did (for the first time since January 6), even though I was unable to do the slightly longer ride I had wanted to. I waited until the day warmed up, and was then just headed out the door a bit past 1:00 p.m., when I received a text from Michelle, asking me to do an errand for her. This was a 'sacrifice' I was very happy to make, however -- she has given up so much, and does so much, for me, that I was very happy to be able to do something to help her. It did mean, though, that I got started a bit past 3:00, and that meant needing to shorten my plans, and just ride a single round trip to Marsh Park. This 10.2-mile ride took me 1:11, and over the course of the ride it cooled slightly, from 50° down to 48°. Glad I could get out today, though, as significant cooling is at our doorstep, with snow later in the week.
